私は中学生の時アメリカのドラマ「グリー」が大好きでした。
当時NHKで放送されていたので、毎週録画をして見ていました。
見始めたのはシーズン２からだったので、
その年のサンタさんにはＤＶＤボックスをお願いして何度も全部見たのを覚えています。
毎日学校からの帰り道に友だちにグリーの話をしたり、歌ったりしていました。
グリーではジャーニーの曲は欠かせませんよね。
それから私もジャーニーが大好きになり、今回翻訳することにしました。
この曲は１０代の若者からみた社会を描写しています。
アメリカでは１８歳になると家を出て一人立ちをするのが一般的で、
この曲からすると１６歳くらいでしょうか。
田舎からでてきた青年が都会で生活をする大人をみてどんな風に感じるでしょう。
夢や希望を抱いて出てきても、思っていたのとは違うかもしれません。
でも、dont stop believing! それがジャーニーからのメッセージです。
